Shelby's JDMS Journal of Events
March 2000 to present
Week 20 - Ending July 15
Wed 07/12/00 : Shelby's appointment went great today! Dr J. says Shelby's progress is very good. He asked "How long have we been seeing her, 6 months?". We've been seeing him barely 4 months, but apparently her progress is that of a sixth month case. We were all encouraged by that. The Prednisone dosage has been dropped to 30 mgs. per day. We were glad about that! The mouth thrush is still present. The gentian violet doesn't seem to work long-term, and she still won't take the lozenges. Dr J. prescribed Diflucan which tastes really good! It's an oral suspension - quite expensive I might add.
Shelby is still making progress strength wise. I think her endurance is near normal again. Her flexiblity and strength are still improving and we know the road will be long. Her attitude is great. Many times I find myself forgetting that she has this disease. People occasionally ask me what her condition is, and during those times it really does sink in all over again.
